This monday, I was fortunate enough to visit Shouji-san at the Star Road workshop in Edogawa, Tokyo. How did this happen? Well, I was at Tokyo Auto Salon and found the Star Road yellow Z there. Inspecting it closely, and taking tons of photos, Shouji came over and kindly opened the bonnet, so me and my brother could take pics of the engine. I took up my phone and showed him a few pictures of my own Z, and he was instantly interested. Unfortunately, I don’t speak much japanese, and Shouji doesn’t speak much english, but through the google translate app, we managed to exchange a few words. The day after, we went back to TAS, and met Shouji again, this time he had a friend there who could translate. So we made an appointment to come and visit the shop this monday. Unfortunately, snow and bad weather hit Tokyo on Monday, but after long delays, we finally made it to the closest train station, where one of the guys at Star Road (didn’t catch his name) came to pick us up and kindly took us to the workshop.
Star Road is pretty famous, both in Japan and abroad, for their extremely high quality restoration work. They specialize in old Datsuns, specifically Z’s and Skylines. You can tell by the pictures, that their restoration work is of extremely high quality!
You can imagine our excitement when we arrived at the workshop, and we were not disappointed! We had a great time with the Starroad crew, despite the language barrier. My most sincere thanks to Shouji-san for the coffee, gifts, friendliness and hospitality! Please enjoy the pictures.
